The Okavango River feeds this incredible delta oasis, drawing a vast range of African wildlife including the famous Big 5 – lion, elephant, buffalo, leopard, and rhino – as well as the endangered wild dog, giraffe, and much more. Apart from usual safari wildlife, the delta creates a unique wonderland of bird, fish and insect life along the enchanted channels decorated with water lilies. Spot the occasional red lechwe, a semi-aquatic antelope, make its way delicately through tall papyrus and keep your eyes peeled for families of hippo wallowing in the shallow waters as well as exquisite water birds enjoying this abundant aquatic habitat. andBeyond Nxabega Okavango Tented Camp was designed in order to have minimal impact – it is constructed by local materials and was placed so that no trees had to be felled before construction. In running the camp, priority is placed on recycling, use of renewable energy, and limiting the use of fossil fuel. Proper water and waste management are also a priority and are managed though the use of biodegradable cleaning products so that when water is released back into the environment it is clean and safe.
