Founded in 1995, the not-for-profit Lewa Wildlife Conservancy spans 62,000 acres and serves as a catalyst for conservation across Kenya. Through the protection and management of endangered species; initiation and support of community conservation and development programmes; and continued education on the value of wildlife, Lewa has become Kenya’s leading model for conservation on private land as well as being a leading destination for low-impact conservation tourism. The conservancy is home to 10% of Kenya's black rhino population, and the single largest population of Grevy's zebra in the world. Read more

Lewa Safari Camp is deeply involved with Lewa Wildlife Conservancy (LWC) Community Development Programmes. The aim is to increase social and economic benefits to the communities with whom we work. The essence of these programmes is to attempt to reduce costs which individuals and communities bear as a consequence of the continued presence of wildlife and to increase the socio-economic benefits they derive from it. Initiatives are geared toward educational and health-care support, water projects, agricultural projects, social development and a women’s micro-credit programme. Read more
