Activities at Londolozi

Located in South Africa, Sabi Sand

Londolozi Game Reserve has cultivated a wide range of activities to complement the safari experience, making it an all-rounded journey of the senses and the soul. This is in line with the origin of the Swahili word safari, meaning journey, and Londolozi encourages guests to immerse oneself in recuperation of the body, mind and spirit during their stay.

Range of Safari Activities at Londolozi

The Londolozi Life Wellness Centre offers authentic treatments designed to put guests in touch with the rhythms of nature, soothing the body and spirit into the ebb and flow of its natural cycles for an enlightened state of healing and harmony. Massage therapy at Londolozi Life includes Swedish Massage, Aromatherapy and Reiki. Yoga and Pilates are also available, and classes are taken on mobile yoga decks as the sun rises over the Sand River, or alternatively in private. The African Fitness Room is equipped with running, cycling and rowing machines as well as weights and overlooks the swimming pool. Bush Running can be enjoyed with the rangers, for those guests who prefer cross-country training. All day walking expeditions guided by skilled rangers are encouraged for true engagement with the environment.  Tracking adventures are also a good way of connecting to the wildlife, and are guided by Shangaan master trackers. For sporting types, eco-friendly clay pigeon shooting and fishing are also available on sight. Sleepouts at the Lookout are perfect for guests looking for something out of the ordinary, and includes a luxurious and romantic bush bed atop a raised timber deck.

The John Varty Cinematography Centre offers a wide range of environmental films and documentation on emerging global trends. The most recent and epic Londolozi videos are also available here. Guests are also encouraged to visit and learn from the local Shangaan Village and interact with staff at the Londolozi Learning Centre. For a more formalized introduction to the local culture and society, take 4 Pillars of Hope Communities Visit.

Children at Londolozi

For younger children the Londolozi Cubs Program is a fun and exciting adventure of environmental education, friendship, and team building. Cubs will learn about other people and cultures, as well as the importance of conserving Africa’s biodiversity. The Cubs Den is well equipped to a children’s safari theme, complete with Land Rovers to “drive” and campout tents. The range of activities includes paper mache, candle making, baking, spoor identification, bird watching, bug catching, African dance, bead making, singing and drumming, gumboot dancing, dung spitting, fishing and shooting.

Varty Camp, Founders Camp and Pioneer Camp are perfect for family holiday safaris and accommodate children from 4 years and over. At the Granite Suites and Tree Camp children younger than 16 are not allowed unless the Camp/Suite are taken for exclusive use. Game drives are available to children of 6 years and older.

  Specialised Photographic Safari

Londolozi Game Reserve is known internationally as one of the top destinations for great Afican photographic safaris, and in 2009 a specialized photographic safari program was conceived along with a specialized photographic safari vehicle. The modified Land Rover is now equipped with adjustable seats with 180 degree rotation for up to 4 guests. Each guest is given their own personal equipment including still and video cameras, night visions goggles, scorpion torches, e-reference books to act as wildlife field guides, star lazer pointers to aid understanding of the night skies, and “sound safari” equipment for amplified bush sounds.

Guests are taken on this fantastic safari by only the most skilled and experienced guides and trackers who will ensure the best sightings for the best photographic opportunities. Specialised photographic safaris can be booked in advance with rates available on request.

Amazing encounters with the African landscape and wildlife will encourage individuals to obtain a clearer life purpose in tune with the earth, animals and plants of your modern habitat. After gaining so much from our surroundings, the hope is that individuals will begin to understand the needs of the environment as well as the intricate bond each person has with their surroundings.
