A private game reserve, Bushlands Game Lodge, is centrally situated in Zululand and is surrounded by over 300 000ha of reserves and parks. The lodge is unique in many respects and offers its clients exclusivity and reasonable rates due to the small and personal nature of the lodge, where the focus is on personal attention and service excellence.
Luxurious wooden lodges built on stilts are elevated above a sand forest where many local game species such as zebra and warthog wander… and are often found roaming the swimming pool area. Each lodge is en-suite and beautifully decorated in ethnic style fabrics, offset by wooden furniture and trimmings.
The lodges are connected by raised wooden walkways that lead to the main dining room, bar, swimming pool and boma, where guests enjoy drinks around the campfire before dinner. The resident chef prepares mouth-watering meals and specialises in succulent venison and other game dishes.
The convenient location of Bushlands Game Lodge makes it a popular base from which to visit the nearby attractions – such as game parks to spot the Big 5. Scuba diving, snorkelling, chartered fishing trips, hiking, Lake St Lucia cruises and many other activities that can be arranged by the Bushlands guides and rangers. A trip to the Dumazulu Traditional Village is a must as there one can see Zulu people showcasing the ancient traditions of the Zulu nation, such as Sangoma bone-throwing, spear and shield making, basket weaving, bead-making and Zulu dancing.
