Diepkloof is situated in the Kouga Mountains. It has a rugged, rocky-type of beauty. The natural attractions are proteas, fynbos, the small five and other big and small furry creatures. The area has an immense tranquility.

Summers are hot with a dry tolerable heat (but the temperature can go up to 45ºC). Winters are crisp and cold with frosty nights and the occasional snowfall. It is a malaria free area with a minimum amount of ticks and fleas in the conservation areas (where there is no livestock).

Presently there is one cottage for rent, however Tessa and Mike have plans to develop the farm in the future:

“Our business aim is to rezone our farm into a nature reserve and sell off footprints of land (only 10-15) where people can build their own holiday homes according to our specifications.  The emphasis is on sustainability – there will be no electricity or overhead telephone wires – eco-friendliness and conservation.  We plan to introduce game that has been exterminated through farming practices and hunting.  The holiday homes should be available to rent for tourists.  We are waiting at present for the process to be finalized so that we can start selling”.
