The ladies of the Kgaladi Crafts Project make jewellery using beads, as well as other items such as knobkieries, beaded ornaments and Christmas decorations. Elizabeth started the business in October 2003, with a grant from the Department of Agriculture.
Bead and craftwork is a very labour intensive business, and as such, the group struggles to get a high return on their labour. Elizabeth knows that her business might never be highly profitable, but acknowledges that their main aim is the creative self-expression and pride that her and her friends get through the work, as well as the small income they earn.
