Semane Lodge at Mbewu Fields

Semane Lodge is a spacious four bedroom house situated on Mbewu Fields Guest Farm. The farm is easily accessible from the main road of Joubertina (Onderkouga turn-off) 13km off the Joubertina road.

Semane Lodge offers a generously proportioned living and dining area, which features an open fireplace and double doors that lead onto a patio with breathtaking views of the river and mountain – making it the perfect spot for a sundowner.

Guests have the option of preparing meals on an old-fashioned coal stove or, for those who favour a more modern approach to cooking, an electric stove is also provided.

The lodge is situated within an area that is rapidly gaining popularity as an adventure tourism destination. Kayak rides will enable visitors to experience the pulsating rythm of the Kouga River. Several natural waterholes are ideal for swimming and fishing. Packing your backpack and putting on your hiking boots for a day-hike, will take you to places with magnificent views of the surrounding area. This is also a splendid way to closely observe some of the 20 000 species of fynbos in the Langkloof Mountains. Just a short drive away, visitors have the opportunity to go on a 4×4 tour and take part in abseiling.

Should a tired hiker require a home cooked traditional meal, this can be provided.

Please Note:  Mbewu Fields Guest Farm is an exciting eco-tourism enterprise in the heart of the Baviaanskloof Mountain Reserve. The Reserve makes up a large portion of the Cape Floral Region and is acknowledged as a United Nations World Heritage Site. In addition to its stunning plant diversity, the reserve boasts 310 bird species, 58 mammals, 56 reptiles, 17 amphibians, 15 fish and 55 types of butterflies. Therefore a must for nature lovers!
