Ubizane Wildlife Reserve

Situated a mere 4km from Hluhluwe Town, and on the access road to Hluhluwe-Umfolozi National Park, Ubizane Wildlife Reserve is an invaluable location for any tourist to experience wildlife while travelling in the surrounding area, including the Greater St Lucia World Heritage Site. The reserve is also centrally situated a mere two and a half hour’s drive from Durban’s King Shaka airport.

Zululand Tree Lodge:

Mysteriously hidden in the treetops on stilts in the cool, whispering tranquility of the fever tree forest is where you will find our Tree Lodge Rooms.

The heart of this lodge has a magnificent guest area. A restaurant with its enormous fireplace and magical view on giant fever trees, views of passing wildlife, even lit up at night creates a dramatic effect. The swimming pool and bar looks onto the beautiful fishpond and there is a watering hole which is visited daily by families of warthogs and nyala, and is fitted with the perfect loungers for relaxation. With paved pathways leading to twenty four luxuriously appointed thatched roofed rooms facing the fever trees, and each room having its own personal viewing deck; guest can observe the surrounding wilderness in private seclusion.

Each room has an enchanting view of the forest from the bedroom through large glass sliding doors, to ensure that guests are always able to view the splendor outside and is fitted with an en-suite bathroom with shower, dressing room, coffee/tea making facilities, bar fridge, mosquito nets, ceiling fan and private viewing deck. Serviced daily by attentive staff.Guests can enjoy the breathtaking expanse of nature at its best while taking a leisurely stroll on various footpaths through the immense fever tree forest and riverbed facing their rooms.

Delicious Pan African cuisine is served at dinner time with the accompanying sounds of the reserve’s nightlife and the spectacular views. Mealtimes at Tree Lodge are served at different venues, either our Tree Lodge Restaurant with its beautiful wooden finishes or our rustic boma, and also our Bush dinner site. The boma at Tree Lodge is the perfect venue to enjoy dinner under a starry sky and next to a roaring fire. The Bush dinner site is majestically hidden in a spectacular clearing between Fever Trees, with a candle-lit pathway leading to the setting, a truly African bush experience.

Zululand Safari Lodge:

The startle of the Impala, the shriek of a monkey in an Umbrella Thorn tree and the gracious sweeping movement of the Giraffe as it bends down to drink from the watering hole nestled under the magnificent Amarula trees. Besides catching a glimpse of the activity at the watering hole, the rooms looking up at the majestic Ubizane Hill.

A beautiful lodge with a heritage spanning over 40 years, Safari Lodge is scattered around the spacious rolling lawns dotted with aged Aloes, replanted from different areas on the farm, as well as Scented Thorn Trees providing a beautiful backdrop to the setting. Rondavel-style rooms all face the constant watering hole nestled under the magnificent Amarula trees quenching in the thirst of the Giraffe, Zebra, Nyala, Impala, and Kudu. This watering hole is also lit at night giving a possible glimpse of animals roaming around in the dark.

There is a variety of different styled rooms at Safari Lodge, all of them with our trademark glass paneled sliding doors, allowing not an inch of nature escaping without being noticed by the guests from within the rooms.

The different rooms at Safari Lodge includes: Double bedded, two sleeper rooms with en-suite bathrooms with showers, as well as four-sleeper family rooms with en-suite bathrooms including bath and shower facilities, and then a third option with our Safari Lodge is rooms are the select few which have a bath and an inside as well as outside shower, extending the nature experience yet another step further. All rooms are fully self-catering, possessing a fully-equipped kitchen. Each room has its own patio with comfortable furniture to spend as much time as possible out of doors.

For the children there is a play park area, to keep up with youthful energy release while parents can absorb the breathtaking scenery. The pool loungers at Safari Lodge’s swimming pool are the perfect retreat to do some bird-watching from.

Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Game Drive:

Experience one of South Africa’s oldest and third largest Game Reserves in our open game drive vehicles. The reserve is well-known for having the largest Rhino population on earth and the reserve is also home to Africa’s Big Five.

Hluhluwe/Imfolozi Full Day Game Drive:

Spend eight full hours in our neighboring reserve with one of our highly experienced field guides. Take a mid-day break whilst enjoying a picnic lunch in the bush.

Ubizane Wildlife Reserve Game Drive:

Enjoy the splendors our beautiful reserve has to offer in an open game drive vehicle hosted by one of our qualified field guides. Expect to see White Rhino, Giraffe, Zebra and a numerous array of plains game and a myriad of birds.

Ubizane Wildlife Reserve Night Drive:

Discover the thrills of nightlife in the bush with a chance of viewing animal such as Bush babies, Owls, Hyenas and the magical starry sky.
