Muvo Ngcobo, a gifted and handy craftsman, was born in Pietermaritzburg before moving to Howick. He creates beautiful artwork that is very unique and not easily duplicated because of the attention and detail he gives to his items.
His work shows great a sense of attention to detail and prides itself on originality and personal designs with features indicating much depth. He focuses a lot of his work on creating, lights, lamps, lampshades, wall lights, and candleholders. Many of his designs incorporate features using material that other people consider rubbish such as old palm tree leaves, Alma, and general goods that are no longer wanted.
Muvo also hand beads lampshades, creating beautiful colours when the light shines through. Beaded wooden bowls suitable for a variety of uses are part of the creative work that can be found in his creative designs. Each bowl has bead features and burnt designs.
The extension of Muvo’s creative talent includes jewellery and he is also hoping to incorporate furniture. The making of bead wall hangings for derocations will also be available with a consideration for wallpaper as another extension. He is currently developing a design for wall plaques that can be hung on a wall or used as a design feature in furniture. The plaque makes use of beads, mirrors, shells, and more embedded in cement.
Muvo also allows other crafts persons to exhibit and sell their work on his premises.
