Liphupho Lamu Camp is situated in the mountains of Kaphunga (Kaphunga legazi) which means “in the smell of blood“. It is 55km south of Manzini.
Visitors can stay and experience the rural Swazi lifestyle without locals having to put on a show. The guests get a chance to take part in the day-to-day chores, such as farming, building huts, taking cattle for dipping etc.
The guests can visit the nearby school and interact with the students or even (if they are teachers) teach a lesson. Since this is a project together with the community, we go to build the school with the community members which has been very well accepted by both community and guests. Visitors also explore the area and get a good feel of the community by taking hikes at the end of a day to the mountain edges, enjoy the scenery and drop in at the local shebeen (tavern) to try the local Swazi brew.
All visits to Liphupho Lamu Camp are arranged via Myxo’s Backpackers and Woza Nawe Tours.
