Rooikloof Guest Farm

This is the perfect venue for a weekend or holiday getaway for families or even a group of friends. Spend a couple of nights relaxing on this fabulous Karoo Guest Farm. What ever your needs, they offer the perfect home away from home.

Rooikloof has a range of self-catering accommodation available.  The accommodation consists of Huis Harpuis, a spacious five bedroom stone house, Renosterbos Cottage, a restored old farm house and Koesnaatjie Boutique Cottages, two newly renovated cosy boutique cottages on the farm.

Surrounded by the wide open spaces of the Karoo, this superior self-catering guesthouse offers five elegantly appointed bedrooms (three rooms with double beds and two with twin single beds).  All rooms have electric blankets and oil heaters.  The original farmhouse has been stylishly decorated with attention to detail, antique furniture and personal touches. With the original old sash windows and wooden floors still in place, a spacious living room, fully equipped kitchen and a lovely log fire, this house boasts plenty of character.   The house has a walled garden with patio furniture and braai (barbecue) facilities.  A double garage that houses table tennis and dart equipment are available for your enjoyment.

Koesnaatjie and the Boutique Cottages:

Both are fully-equipped self-catering cottages with open plan living areas, high ceilings, log fires and old leather sleeper couches. There are built in braai (barbeque) facilities and an original black coal stove for those cold snowy nights. Each cottage offers a McGregor reed ceiling bedroom with a double bed, dawn duvet, hot water bottles, gas heater and en-suite bathroom. Although the cottages are without electricity, candles and lanterns create a true romantic atmosphere and the song of an old fashioned gas geyser steams up the exposed copper pipe shower. Evenings can be spent in the warm ambiance of the ash bush bossieskerm gazing at the milky way.  Experience the calming feeling of the sunset over the mountains and bright starlight from your very own verandah. You may even spot a couple of springboks through your lovingly renovated wooden sash windows.

The farm offers a variety of hiking trails and hikers are likely to see small buck, a variety of birds and an astounding diversity of plant life. Some plant species occur nowhere else in the world.  This is the ideal location for exploring the Forgotten Highway, Sutherland and SALT.  Children can experience freedom in wide open areas and spend time with farm animals.
