The cottage is fully equipped and beautifully restored, located in the shady garden of the homestead. Dating back to the early 1900’s, the cottage is tastefully furnished and decorated with numerous historic items that will be of interest to visitors.
The farm was founded by Mr Codre from the town of Finchley just outside of London, England. He moved to South Africa for health reasons. He built the main homestead, lands and rockery.
Accommodation is in two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with two single beds. The cottage also has a lounge with a sleeper couch that can sleep another two persons if required.
The kitchen is fully equipped for self-catering, although guests can opt for bed and breakfast. The cottage is fully serviced.
Camping is provided for on the farm. The campsites are grassed with shade. It is suitable for overnight camping and/or weekend camping. Each site has its own braai (barbeque) area. There is a flush toilet and a hot shower (gas).
Finchley is an active stock farm with sheep, cattle and goats. The farm offers a wide variety of activities. Apart from the usual farm animals such as horses, sheep and cattle there are also various species of game such as kudu, eland, blesbuck, impala, springbuck and klipspringers on the farm.
The well known landmark, Aasvoëlberg, is located on Finchley Farm and offers guests numerous activities such as hiking, mountain climbing, hang gliding, mountain biking and 4×4 and 4×2 tracks. For those who do not have a suitable vehicle to drive on the farm tracks a Land Rover can be hired for use on the farm.
