Painting, taking photos or designing furniture made of recycled wood in my hometown based workshop is what I do best. The peaceful surroundings in the small town of Fauresmith (approximately 140km outside Bloemfontein on the R706) gives me inspiration and fresh ideas. I paint in any medium – oil, acrylic, tar – with anything that gives me texture and can do any commissions.
Taking photographs of families or weddings, babies or pets, let me experience the lighter side of life – seeing love between people and the excitement of a mother waiting for the birth of her first born. And of course the beautiful sunsets and landscapes you find in the South-West Free State are breathtaking!
Finding old wood, old rusted taps or srews and handles and putting it all together to create a coffee table or chest of drawers is exciting and challenging, which is perfect for my creative mind and soul. The pieces are practical and interesting and one of a kind.
