At Barry’s, all houses are fully equipped for self-catering and linen and bath towels are supplied. They offer en-suite accommodation with stunning water views and less luxury with mountain views, sharing bathrooms.
Barry’s also offer a backpackers service. They will fit you in according to personal preference and budget. Facilities include braai (barbeque) facilities, DSTV and safe parking. Dogs are only allowed by prior arrangement.
Lorraine is the fifth generation of Barrys that started Port Beaufort – a small fishing village which oozes historical value and charm. She would love to tell you more and show you the Barry Memorial Church, a national monument built in 1859.
Witsand is THE whale nursery of South Africa, as the largest concentration of Southern Right Whales come to our bay each year to calve. In 2006 stats read that 141 whales were counted on one day by aerial survey. This number included 69 calves! The highest ever! Whale season is July to November and a must see! Only land based whale watching – Limited disturbance by boats. We are the distributors of “The Whale Induna” video.
