Haggards B&B on Hilldrop

Sir Henry Rider Haggard, famous author of ‘King Solomon’s Mines’ lived in this house during 1881. It is now a bed and breakfast with 29 luxury air-conditionered, private en-suite rooms situated on a glorious 3 hectare indiginous forest.  All rooms have electronic lock-up safes as well as tea/coffee/hot chocolate facilities. Haggards B&B on Hilldrop is graded as a 4-star facility with the TBCSA.

This old house is now a national monument, housing a breakfast room, dinning room, office with internet access and three rooms. There is also a fully licenced ‘honesty bar’ on the premises. Guests are welcome to cool off in the outdoor swimming pool on hot summer days.

Dinner is served from Monday to Thursday and breakfast is served seven days a week. Laundry services and hairdryers are available on request

Haggards B&B on Hilldrop is situated approximately 3km from the centre of town and only 1km from the New Century Casino.  For golf lovers the Newcastle Golf Club is a mere 8km away.
