John Baloyi was a prolific artist until he passed away in 2006. He exhibited all around the world, including England, Australia and Holland. Themes ranged from biblical icons, traditional Tsonga symbols and daily village life as well as unusual animals such as dolphins and camels. John Baloyi played an important role in educating the youth about art because he felt it is an important way of imparting wisdom and understanding about our world. John’s quirky gallery showcased artists from the area and provided young artists with an opportunity for mentorship and inspiration. His energy and enthusiasm is sorely missed.
