Kulala Desert Lodge

Hidden at the foot of the majestic Sossusvlei dunes with a private entrance to Namib Naukluft Park makes Kulala Desert Lodge the closest and most spectacular location to Sossusvlei, providing magnificent views of its famous red dunes, mountainous scenery and vast open plains. It is situated in Wilderness Safaris’ private 21 000ha Kulala Wilderness Reserve. The camp comprises 14 stylish, thatched and canvas ‘kulalas‘ (‘to sleep’ in Oshiwambo). The décor is inspired by northern Africa. The overall setting is a true delight to the senses, bringing together the rhythm of Namibia, French cuisine and intimacy. The activities available leave guests with overwhelming impressions of the magnitude, solitude and tranquillity of the desert. This is the perfect location to view and photograph the desert vista.

The lodge offers:

  • Fourteen double en-suite kulalas (rooms) with verandas;
  • Each room is built on a wooden platform to catch the cooling breezes and has a deck on the flat rooftop where bedrolls can be placed for guests to sleep under the stars; and
  • The main area has a lounge, pub, dining area, plunge pool and a wrap-around veranda overlooking the waterhole.

Activities:

  • Guided private tours to Sossusvlei;
  • Horse-riding; and
  • Scenic nature drives and game drives to view the desert’s fascinating flora and fauna.
