Sefapane Lodge and Safaris

Sefapane Lodge is situated on a beautiful piece of unspoiled bushveld with dense abundant gardens and four dams. It offers a luxurious African-style which gives guests a ‘home away from home‘ feeling combined with a great bushveld experience.

Rooms:

The 4-star luxury lodge consists of 31 fully serviced, traditional African-style thatched rondavels (round huts). The rondavels, situated under shady trees, are fitted with air-conditioning and en-suite bathrooms.

Accommodation is also offered in 17 excellent safari houses.  The houses all have spacious lounges with satellite television, fully equipped open plan kitchens, two bedrooms with an en-suite bathroom, a guest bathroom, a loft with a third bedroom and a private wooden deck. The houses are situated around the dam with an abundance of birdlife. The safari houses can accommodate four to ten guests comfortably.  These houses are all self-catering, but guests may use all the lodges’ facilities.

Facilities:

Next to one of the two splendid swimming pools guests will find a sunken bar. The restaurant, with open kitchen, serves breakfasts, lunches and divine à-la-carte dinners. The kids’ lounge and special kids program offers a place for the children to have fun, watch television and play games. The spa also offers guests a relaxing experience.

Activities:

Sefapane Lodge and Safaris organizes safaris within the Kruger National Park guided by experienced FGASA qualified guides and in special designed game viewing safari vehicles. The morning, day and evening safaris, as well as the evening bush braais (barbeque) in the Kruger park, river safaris, bush walks and mountain-bike tours are all conducted under the guidance of experienced rangers. They offer day excursions to the Blyde River Canyon, an animal rehab centre and a cultural village tour. Guests can enjoy bird-watching or fishing in the dam. The well-known 18-holes Hans Merensky Golf Course and the town of Phalaborwa is only a few minutes’ drive away.

Weddings:

Get married in lush tropical gardens, in an African style boma or in the middle of the Olifants River on a river boat.  Enjoy a lunch or wedding dinner prepared by professional chefs in the middle of the bushveld, under palm trees or under the star-lit sky next to the pool. Let the choir and traditional dancers entertain you after you said `I do`.

Safaris, excursions and golf:

Evening Safari (Summer: 17:00-20:00; Winter: 16:30-19:30):

A game drive on an open 4×4 vehicle into the sunset. After sundowners, when the night falls, you can enjoy the experience of spotting nocturnal animals with spotlights.  Sundowner drinks and snacks are included.

Evening Safari with a bushbraai or braai (barbeque) at the lodge (Summer: 17:00-21:30; Winter: 16:30-21:00):

A game drive with an open 4×4 vehicle into the sunset. After sundowners, when the night falls, you can enjoy the experience of spotting nocturnal animals with spotlights. A traditional braai (barbeque) is served around a campfire at a private location in the Kruger National Park or at the lodge. A minimum of eight persons apply.

Full Day Safari (05:45-16:00):

Set out at dawn for a full day of game viewing in an open 4×4 vehicle with an experienced guide in search of the wildlife. This includes a picnic breakfast and lunch in the bush.

Morning Safari (06:00-12:00):

Set out at dawn for a safari in an open 4×4 vehicle with an experienced guide in search of wildlife. This drive includes a picnic breakfast in the Kruger National Park.

River Safari (07:15-11:30) (Summer: 14:15-18:30; Winter: 13:45-18:00):

Enjoy a cruise along the banks of the Olifants River amongst hippos, crocodiles and a variety of other game and birds. Coffee, cake, water and juice are provided on the cruise.

Bike safari – morning or sunset (Summer: 05:00-09:00; Winter: 05:30-09:30) (Summer: 15:30-18:30; Winter: 15:00-18:00):

Two experienced game rangers will guide you on a mountain bike through the bush for a close encounter with the Kruger National Park’s wildlife. This drive includes a picnic breakfast in the bush and sundowner drinks and snacks.

Morning bushwalk (Summer: 05:00-09:00; Winter: 05:30-09:30):

Two experienced game rangers will guide you through the bush for a close encounter with Kruger National Park’s wildlife. This includes a picnic breakfast in the bush.

Sunset bushwalk (Summer: 15:30-18:30; Winter: 15:00-18:00):

Two experienced game rangers will guide you through the bush for a close encounter with Kruger National Park’s wildlife. This drive includes a sundowner drink and snacks in the bush.

Culture & Village tour (09:00-12:30) (14:00-17:30):

Experience true African culture. This interesting tour takes you to villages in the Phalaborwa area where various aspects of authentic and modern day Africa will be highlighted.

Panorama Route-Blyde River Canyon (07:00-16:00):

Spend a full day discovering some of South Africa’s most spectacular scenery. This tour will take you to the Blyde River Canyon with spectacular sites such as God’s Window, Three Rondavels and Bourke’s Luck Potholes. Visits to Graskop and Pilgrim’s Rest are also on the itinerary (including entrance fees, excluding lunch).

Animal Rehabilitation Tour (08:00-17:00):

The Moholoholo Rehabilitation center in Hoedspruit offers you a unique change to learn about wildlife and conservation while experiencing the animals up close. See cheetahs, wild dogs, ground hornbills, lions, birds of prey and even leopards! The afternoon is spent in the spectacular Swadini area visiting the Blyde Dam. (Including entrance fees, excluding lunch).

  • Golf at Hans Merensky Country Club:

Enjoy playing a game of golf at the 18-holes Hans Merensky Golf Course where the game of the Kruger National Park can often be seen! (Strictly Golf attire).  Only 5 minutes from Sefapane Lodge, with complimentary transfer.
