Skilpad Manor offers self-catering accommodation in the heart of Van Wyksdorp. The house is an old Karoo style house built on a 4000m² plus plot with fruit trees, a vegetable garden and a chicken coop that is currently used as a playhouse for children.
The house can sleep a maximum of nine people in four separate bedrooms (bedroom 1 – queen size bed; bedroom 2 – two single beds; bedroom 3 – queen size bed; bedroom 4 (linked to bedroom 3) – two single beds and a ¾ bed). There is a full bathroom and an outside toilet with adjacent shower for those hot summer days.
Other facilities include an inside and an outside fireplace/braai (barbeque) area, a dishwasher, television (need to bring your own DSTV decoder and smart card). Bedlinen and towels are provided.
Guests can purchase jams, chutneys and olives (made from our own fruit), as well as firewood from the main house. Ice can be purchased from one of the two cafes in Van Wyksdorp. The keys can be collected from Henry (+27 83 653 8009) at the Barking Frog Coffee Shop.
Come relax and enjoy the starlit Karoo nights in spectacular surroundings. For the more adventurous there are various hiking- and mountain bike trails.
Rates:
- Single OR first two adults – R600.00;
- 3rd & 4th adult – R225.00/person;
- 5th to max adults there after – R175.00/person;
- Children 0 – 2 – free;
- Children 2 – 12 = 50% of per person rate;
- Children 13 and up = adult rate.
