Tumie’s is a typical township home in Mdantsane and offers tourists an opportunity to experience life in the townships themselves. The business has a strong vision to help empower the community and has done much in this regard. They formed a traditional dance club to entertain their guests and also offer a car wash service, which helps keep the lights burning in other homes. Tumie encouraged a neighbour to open a ginger beer and Marewu business, from which she buys her stock from. The traditional beer they serve is also locally produced and she even encourages local crafters to come and display their work at the guest house.
