The town of Massingir lies on the eastern border of the Parque Nacional do Limpopo and it main feature is the newly constructed Massingir dam. Although the town hasn’t got much to offer in terms of tourist facilities, it is still worth turning off for a look. The town has a central market area (left of the traffic circle), where you can buy fresh pão (bread) and cold drinks. The locals are friendly and willing to help if you don’t understand the language.
The town of Massingir is the Mozambican administrative headquarters of the park and park entry permits can be obtained here. The office (a big white building) is located on the right-hand side as you enter the town from the west.
