Mount Everest Game Farm is a 1000ha working sheep farm and home to a lively family. The farm is centrally situated approximately halfway between Harrismith and Durban, and also a good base to explore the Northern Drakensberg, Midlands Meander and Boer War Battlefields from.
There is a restaurant on the farm, but booking is essential. We are in the process of acquiring a liquor licence.
Accommodation:
There are a great variety of accommodation options at Mount Everest. From Swiss style, wooden chalets and duplex chalets of brick and thatch, to a campsite for tents and caravans. Eco-cabins are chalets without electricity, but they do have all the necessary appliances in gas. There are no camping cabins in the caravan park. They are wooden huts with electricity and water – each with their own bathroom. Because there are no kitchens in these, guests bring their own camping/cooking gear, hence the name “camping cabins”.
Mount Everest Game Farm also offers accommodation for bigger groups such as school camps or church camps. The camping cabins and the duplex chalets are converted to group accommdations for camps. This is the ideal venue for conferences and also offer team building activities. All chaltes have self-catering facilites (except for the camping cabins), although there is a restaurant on the premises. The self-catering chalets are very well equipped with kitchen appliances and utensils. Please note that there are no televisions in any of the chalets. The satellite dishes on the pictures are not operable. There is a television with DSTV at reception.
Chalets:
All accommodation is self-catering. Pre-cooked frozen meals are for sale for consumption in the privacy of your chalet. Ice and firewood can be supplied. Please note that there are no televisions in any of the chalets.
