The Basotho Cultural Village is situated east of the Golden Gate National Park and offers visitors a unique look into the culture and traditions of the Basotho people. A living museum, the village shows reconstructions of traditional homesteads from the early 1700’s through to the present day. Resident tour guides explain how the Basotho people conducted their day-to-day activities through the centuries, demonstrate the various household implements and explain the significance of the clothing on display.
Visitors can also meet the local chief, sample Basotho beer and play a traditional game of morabaraba.
The village has an art gallery, curio shop and restaurant. Story-telling evenings and traditional games competitions are held regularly.
