Francisca was trained to decorate plates and tiles and makes them for the community, as well as selling them in George.
She has trained other women in the community to do this craft, which follows this process:
- Write something on paper or make patterns – ie use the patterns on the material and cut out the pattern, or use photos (e.g. a bride and groom);
- Cotton, glue, glitter can be used – they try to make them as original as possible, using different materials and designs;
- Stick them on plate; and
- Paint a glow (almost a varnish) over.
Shandro also makes painted glass panels, which are for sale. He is self-taught and started in 2002.
