Honeywood Farm is located alongside Grootvadersbos Nature Reserve in the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains. The farm has been in the family since 1817 and is a working bee farm. The farm is the perfect retreat for anyone wanting to escape from the hassles of a hectic city life. Accommodation options on the farm are varied.
Hunter’s Lodge has been described as one of the most romantic spots in the country. Built for two, lit by hurricane lamps, warmed by a huge open fire – the lodge has magnificent views and is known for its rustic simplicity.
Set around a central courtyard next the main farmstead are three other cottages with living rooms, fireplaces and small kitchens. Here visitors can opt for their own catering or delicious farm breakfasts and home cooked meals.
For larger groups of ten, an old ruin dating back to 1712 has been converted into a log-style bushcamp. Doors running the entire length of the wooden structure slide open to allow for cool night breezes through the camp – which has its own fireplace, bathroom and kitchenette.
Besides the fact that Honeywood Farm has the nature reserve right next door, there are also a number of activities on the farm itself. Mountain biking, swimming and walking are favourite pastimes, while horse-riding for small groups can be arranged. Honeywood Farm is a paradise for lovers and lovers of African flora and fauna alike!
