Kundalila Falls

Kundalila Falls lie in an area of great scenic beauty where the Kaombe River falls 67m over the Muchinga escarpment into a crystal pool below. Rumour has it that the first western explorers, while passing through the area shot doves and found gold specs in their crops – hence the name Kundalila, meaning ‘place of the crying doves’. This is one of Zambia’s highest areas, with an altitude of 1 500m, so it is often pleasantly cool and breezy.

There is a basic campsite with long drop toilets and a braai (barbeque) area and swimming is allowed. Kundalila is famous for its wild flowers and makes a delightful picnic spot amongst the granite boulders.
