History of Loerie Flower Estates:

Loerie Flower Estates is the result of an employee buyout initiative – when employees of the South African Forestry Company Limited (SAFCOL) were retrenched, they invested their severance packages to buy the farm and to also fund their working capital requirements.

After difficult negotiations with their employer, the workers took possession of the farm in November 2004.  Within just a few months the business was turned around – from making a loss to a superb model for a BEE cut flower export project in the country.
