Sailaway Dhow Safaris

Sailaway have provided dhow sailing safaris to the Bazaruto Archipelago since 1997. Their knowledge of the area will ensure that you benefit from the very best experience during your safari.

One crew member serves as an English/Portuguese translator on your safari, and they provide an information pack detailing both marine and terrestrial flora and fauna in the park.

With Sailaway you can experience the joys of a sailing voyage by traditional dhow as you explore these islands. The tours are fully-catered, so you can relax and take in the splendour of the area while the crew takes care of you. Sailaway provides all meals, soft drinks, tea and coffee for the duration of the trip. Seafood is their speciality, and fresh salads accompany all meals. They also cater for vegetarians. You may purchase alcoholic beverages whilst on safari, or prior to departure.

Budget accommodation in the Bazaruto Archipelago is under discussion, and currently there is none on offer in the Archipelago. If you wish to overnight in the Bazaruto Archipelago try an overnight live-aboard safari.

The environmental systems of the Bazaruto Archipelago are extremely fragile and Sailaway operates a strict environmental code. The safaris consist of low-impact activities. Clients are expected to follow the classic adage and ‘leave only footprints’. No littering or removal of shells is permitted. All the supplies are carried on board and all non-burnable waste from the trips is carried out of the park area and disposed of on the mainland.

Sailaway believes that the treasure of the Bazaruto Archipelago is the local heritage and must be utilised in a way that impacts positively upon the lives of the island inhabitants. They are encouraging ventures that aim to increase the benefits for local communities and are presently involved in supporting the establishment of an Ecolodge in partnership with the local community on the island of Bazaruto.
