Siyakhula Hankey Project

Siyakhula Hankey Dual Purpose Project was established in July 2002.  The purpose of the programme is to keep people busy in the community so that they develop a sense of belonging to the community. Another objective is to transfer the traditional skills of the older members of the community to the younger generation.  Siyakhula is one of the Department of Social Development’s poverty eradication projects.  The main beneficiaries are adult males and females above the age of 55.

The youth are also recruited, and volunteer in the programme.  The members and the community at large are benefiting from the programme through income generation, developing a community spirit and the skills programme.
