Smidswinkel Restaurant

Smidswinkel Restaurant is situated in a large sandstone building which, many years ago, was occupied by the last blacksmith in Nieuwoudtville. It houses a botanical and historical library with an extensive collection of maps, as well as one of the most complete collections of Antique Smithy Tools in South Africa. A vast collection of clivias can be found in the garden of the Smidswinkel Restaurant. This restaurant offers traditional farmstyle meals and, for the adventurous, they will even prepare baked ‘skilpadjies’ or a sheep’s head.

Smidswinkel Restaurant is popular for wedding receptions, music recitals, art exhibitions and conferences. The annual Art Exhibition is held in the restaurant for six weeks during the flower season.

They are open throughout the year from 07:30 – 21:00.
