Visit Verfheuwel Guest Farm, 4km on your way to Potberg (where the Whale Trail starts… if you are too late for the gate or on your way back) and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the farm and let birdsong wake you up… You can also see how sheep and cattle are farmed. Other activities include cycling and walking trails, bird-watching (including the vultures at Potberg – why not visit the vulture restaurant there?) and whale-watching.
Day trips can be made to the historical towns of Swellendam, Bredasdorp (where there is a shipwreck museum), Cape Infanta and Witsand (with its white dunes and tidal pools), Malgas (take a ride on the ferry), De Hoop Nature Reserve (with it’s beautiful Fynbos and game) and Cape Agulhas, the southernmost tip of Africa.
