Willemrivier Trekpad – Flower Route:

On the Willemsrivier Trekpad Route you will find interesting colour variations of the Sparaxis elegans (spogfluweeltjie) which is endemic to Nieuwoudtville and a Red Data specie.

Historical buildings:

The first buildings on the farm were built in 1745. Some of the historical buildings on the farm include:

• The office of General Jan Smuts and General Manie Maritz, used during the Anglo Boer War;
• The first Dutch Reformed Church built in 1885; and
• The jail where the convicts slept at night during 1875 – 1881 while they were busy building the Vanrhyns Pass.

An old historical fountain:

An old historical fountain with an interesting copper plate (used to determine the amount of water allocated to each owner according to the size of ground they owned) can be seen on the farm.
