Zur Alten Mine Guest Farm

Zur Alten Mine offers two log chalets with a private veranda, a fireplace and fully equipped kitchen. The chalets have beautiful views and can accommodate up to three people with one bedroom and an extra bed in the lounge. The family cottage can sleep up to five people with two bedrooms and one extra bed in the lounge. They also have a honeymoon chalet available.

Accommodation can be self-catering or bed and breakfast.

Zur Alte Mine is set in a big garden, with a fish dam (no fishing), and a surrounding indigenous forest. It offers a perfect starting point for daytrips to the Blyde River Canyon,  historical Pilgrim’s Rest, the Kruger National Park and all the interesting stops on the route. There is also a variety of birdlife on the property and even rare species can be spotted here, including the Knysna Lourie, Blue Swallows, and Longcrested Eagle.

The accommodation is named after a former gold mine. The owner, Alois, bought the property at an auction fourteen years ago and started the guest farm business after building the log chalets and beautiful breakfast room. He called it Zur Alten Mine, which means ‘To the old Mine’ in German.
