Fraserburg

Features

Fraserburg was founded in 1851 and named after the minister, Rev. Fraser and a church elder, Mister Meyburg. Fraserburg is situated on a plateau to the north of the Nuweveld Mountains and is a comfortable five hour drive from Cape Town. It is one of the most authentic and well preserved Karoo towns in South Africa. It is a quiet and peaceful place where one can truly get away from busy city life. 

The Karoo is renowned for its clear skies making it an ideal location for stargazing while adventurous travellers can enjoy the variety of hiking and 4×4 trails in the area while. The De Postjes Trail traverses majestic mountains and wide open plains and fossilised footprints can be seen at various points along the route. The highlight is the historic Mail Coach Pass which descends 300m over less than a kilometre.
