Chief Makuni invites visitors to his village, home to the Leya people. This is a unique opportunity to see how the local people live in a working village, not one built for tourists. Approximately 6000 people live here and a visit is a fascinating insight into their life style. The village has five guides that show visitors around and they can see how traditional huts are built and decorated, take a look inside, meet the residents and see the locals at work.
The guides tell visitors various interesting fact and stories including the story of the seventh chief being buried alive in the graveyard. To this day, chiefs still won’t visit the graveyard for this reason.
In addition the village also has a craft market and is able to provide traditional food by prior arrangement. They can also house functions.
