Osizweni Handicraft Centre was established in 1970. It is a centre for disabled people, offering them an opportunity to train in different skills. It also aims to change the mindset of the inhabitants as well as the community, proving that disabled people are able to contribute to society, earn an income and provide financially for themselves.
Arts & Crafts:
- Woodwork/carpentry – benches, tables etc;
- Metalwork/welding – burglar bars, frames for chairs;
- Weaving – mats, garden chairs, washing baskets etc;
- Sewing – table cloths, school uniforms etc; and
- Beadwork.
The products that are made are sold from the in-house showroom. The centre is fully-funded by the Department of Social Welfare and Population Development.
