Samsitu Riverside Camp is an ideal destination for camping groups of 10-30 people.
Activities are focused on the Kavango River, the surrounding flood plain and riverine forest. The camp has two pontoon boats (Halcyon River Cruisers) that can easily accommodate up to 30 people. The Halcyon Cruiser is also suitable for tourgroups accommodated at Rundu town who want to spend some time on the river.
For groups of 10-14 people it is possible to cater for different activities. All of the available toys can be taken with on an all day cruise allowing bird-watching, fishing, canoeing or simply chilling. Video and camera equipment are essential for photographic opportunities.
A pleasant way to round off the day is with a social evening at the bar and braai (barbeque) area. A kitchen is available for self-catering groups.
Accommodation options and activities:
Overnight camping:
There are five riverside campsites with braai (barbeque) facilities, electrical outlets and lights. Ablution is offered in three male and three female bathrooms. The campsites are shaded and grassed.
Day camping:
This includes the use of the campsites, swimming pool and other conveniences.
Halcyon River Cruises:
The Halcyon River Cruiser can seat up to 30 people. It is a pontoon boat with 32 separate air-tight compartments, safety equipment and toilet facilities. A breakfast run, full day trip up the Kavango River or a sunset cruise are unique experiences.
Breakfast run and Dinner trips:
Breakfast- and dinner cruises can be arranged. The cost will depend on the requirements. Minimum 4 people.
Full day trip group rate:
The cost for these trips are rated per hour. The cost of catering according to the requirements is negotiable. Minimum 30 people.
Sunset cruise:
Enjoy a two hour sunset cruise on the river. A cash bar is available and snacks can be prepared on request at an additional cost.
Small aluminum boat:
This is a self-drive cruise that can accommodate 1-4 people.
Meetings and workshops on the river:
The Halcyon River Cruiser is an ideal place to have meetings or workshops while traveling on the river. Catering can also be arranged and cooling facilities are available.
Outdoor braai (barbeque) area:
There is a cash bar and braai (barbeque) area available for all guests.
Field kitchen:
There is an equipped kitchen including cooling- and freezing facilities. Crockery and cutlery is available for up to 30 people. Spitbraai facilities are also available.
