Both Lufupa Camp and Lufupa River Camp are situated in the centre of the northern sector of the 22 500km² Kafue National Park. The Kafue National Park is one of the largest national parks in Africa. The Kafue is fed by the perennial Lunga, Lufupa and Kafue Rivers.
Lufupa River Camp – Safari & Adventure Co. Camp:
Accommodation is offered in five twin tents or two family size guest tents. The family tents can accommodate four guests each. The safari-style tented rooms have a wooden deck providing spectacular river views. Each tent is en-suite with a shower, basin and toilet. Soaps, shampoo, body lotion, washing powder (for smalls), insect repellent and torches are supplied in each tent.
There are also 15 campsites that can accommodate 10 guests each. The campsites consists of two ablution blocks with four flush toilets, four showers with hot and cold water and four washbasins. There are built-in braais (barbeque) with water and power points. The camp offers a laundry service at an extra cost.
Guests can dine under the huge Jackalberry trees or enjoy a drink in the bar area overlooking the Kafue River. Meals are served at the River Cafè. There is also a swimming pool where guests can cool off during the hot summer days.
Lufupa Camp – Vintage Camp:
Accommodation is offered in eight twin guest tents or two family guest tents. They both have safari-style tented rooms with a wooden deck. Guests can enjoy spectacular river views. Each tent is en-suite with a shower, basin and toilet.
Guests can relax in the dining and bar area under huge Jackalberry trees overlooking the Kafue River. Dinners are served in a traditional style boma under the stars next to a roaring campfire. The camp offers a fully stocked bar with a good selection of wines.
Game-viewing:
The beauty of the park is evident in its diverse habitats with floodplains, miombo woodland, thick riverine vegetation and open grassy areas (dambos). There are resident prides of lion and leopard and are frequently spotted by visitors. Wild dogs are also occasionally sighted. Hippos are always out in front of the camp frolicking in the cool waters of the Kafue River. There are always a wide variety of plains game, ranging from zebra, buffalo, roan, Lichtenstein’s hartebeest, sable, kudu, impala and oribi. Elephants are also often seen roaming through the concession. The birdlife is certainly an attraction for many people visiting the Kafue.
